     William Eaton Col William Eaton was born about 1690 on Skimoni Creek near the YorkRiver in Yorke Co VA.
The first record that can definitely be ascribed to William Eaton is adeed to him for 200 acres by James Thweatt, joining on George Rivesdated 2 Jan 1717.
William married Mary Rives, the daughter of George Rives of PrinceGeorge.
William and Mary moved to Edgecombe Co NC about 1742.
On 15 Mar 1743, he proved his rights for taking up land for importing11 whites and 23 blacks into the colony.
In 1746, Granville Co was formed from the part of Edgecombe Co inwhich he had settled. In the act of the assembly creating GranvilleCo and St. John's Parish, the freeholders were ordered to meet at thehouse of William Eaton to hold court until a court house could bebuilt and the vestry of St. John's parish were directed to hold theirmeetings at the same place.
