Jean Barberie , son of Thobye Barberie and Marie Le Reverend, was born in 1641.

Jean Barberie married Anna De Lancey at France.1 Jean Barberie Jean Barberie was a Huguenot (French Protestant). If you were a Hugenot you were classified as 'the unliving', ie. you did not existand. Any records with your name on it were altered. [032]
Jean Barberie had his name removed from birth records as well at the Armorial De Paris (the French Heraldic Coat of Arms). [032]
His wife was the sister of his friend Estienne De Lancey. She was a Huguenot and died in France but there is no record. [032]
According to family tradition, Jean, a Huguenot fled from his churc hin France in 1685 by escaping though a window and departing on the back of a donkey. Apparently, a Catholic priese and a long time friend of the family warned Jean of the fact that soldiers were on their way to arrest him for being a Huguenot that would not convert to catholicism. The priest arranged for a boat in Calais to take Jean, his two sons, and Estienne De Lancey to England. [032]
They went to Roterdam via Calais and then to London. Jean entered England under the name Jean Barberie de Saint Contest. [032]
