Robert (?) I, Duke of Normandy Robert the Magnificent[1] (French: le Magnifique) (22 June 1000 - 3July 1035), also called Robert the Devil (French: le Diable), was theDuke of Normandy from 1027 until his death. Owing to uncertainty overthe numbering of the Dukes of Normandy he is usually called Robert I,but sometimes Robert II with his ancestor Rollo as Robert I. He wasthe son of Richard II of Normandy and Judith, daughter of Conan I ofRennes. He was the father of William the Conqueror.
When his father died, his elder brother Richard succeeded, whilst hebecame Count of Hiémois. When Richard died a year later, there weregreat suspicions that Robert had Richard murdered, hence his othernickname, 'the Devil'. He is sometimes identified with the legendaryRobert the Devil.[citation needed]
Robert aided King Henry I of France against Henry's rebellious brotherand mother, and for his help he was given the territory of the Vexin(1032). He also intervened in the affairs of Flanders, supported hiscousin Edward the Confessor, who was then in exile at Robert's court, and sponsored monastic reform in Normandy.
By his mistress, Herleva of Falaise, he was father of the futureWilliam I of England (1028-1087). He also had an illegitimatedaughter, but the only chronicler to explicitly address the issue,Robert of Torigny, contradicts himself, once indicating that she had adistinct mother from William, elsewhere stating that they shared thesame mother. This daughter, Adelaide of Normandy (1030 - c. 1083),married three times: to Enguerrand II, Count of Ponthieu, Lambert II,Count of Lens, and Odo II of Champagne.
After making his illegitimate son William his heir, he set out onpilgrimage to Jerusalem. According to the Gesta Normannorum Ducum hetravelled by way of Constantinople, reached Jerusalem, and died on thereturn journey at Nicaea on 2 July 1035. Some sources attribute hisdeath to poison and date it to 1 or 3 July. His son William, agedabout eight, succeeded him.
According to the historian William of Malmesbury, William sent amission to Constantinople and Nicaea, charging it with bringing hisfather's body back to be buried in Normandy. Permission was granted, but, having travelled as far as Apulia (Italy) on the return journey, the envoys learned that William himself had meanwhile died. They thendecided to re-inter Robert's body in Italy.

Saint Margaret of Scotland (?) , daughter of Edward the Exile (?) and (?) Agatha, was born in 1045 at Hungary.1 Saint Margaret of Scotland (?) Saint Margaret of Scotland (c. 1045 - 16 November 1093), also known as Margaret of Wessex and Queen Margaret of Scotland, was an English princess of the House of Wessex. Born in exile in Hungary due to the Vikings take over of England, she was the sister of Edgar Ætheling, the short-ruling and uncrowned Anglo-Saxon King of England.
Margaret and her family returned to England in 1057, but fled to the Kingdom of Scotland following the Norman conquest of England of 1066.Around 1070 Margaret married Malcolm III of Scotland, becoming his Queen consort. She was a pious woman, and among many charitable works she established a ferry across the Firth of Forth for pilgrims travelling to Dunfermline Abbey, which gave the towns of South Queensferry and North Queensferry their names. Margaret was the mother of three Kings of Scotland and a Queen consort of England. According to the Life of Saint Margaret, attributed to Turgot of Durham, she died at Edinburgh Castle in 1093, just days after receiving the news of her husband's death in battle. In 1250 she was canonised by Pope Innocent IV, and her remains were reinterred in a shrine at Dunfermline Abbey. Her relics were dispersed after the Scottish Reformation and subsequently lost.2
Saint Margaret of Scotland (?) married Malcolm III Canmore King of Scots, son of Duncan I MacCrinan King of Scots and daughter of Siward (?), on between 1067 and 1070 at Dunfermline, Fife, Scotland; his 2nd.1
