He had a heart attack on 6 Dec 1956 in Hattisburg, MS.He was serving as Visiting Professor of Philosophy at MississippiSouthern University. He had ventricular fibulation with many attacksover the next ten years with afatal attack in 1966. In 1964, he had acolon cancer removed. He was buried in Memorial Gardens, Mobile, Mobile Co, Alabama..

On the front of the cover of the will of Charles Avera is written ........by Henry Avera, to be.......being the heir at law to contest the validity of the will if he sees fit. The front cover also contains the date June 18, 1746 directly above that writing.1

     The Avera family most likely originally came from France and emigrated to England in the 1500s to avoid religious persecution in France during the French Huguenot movement there.

Immigrant

     The first Avera to arrive in the Virginia Colonies was Henry Avera, who arrived in 1642 with his wife Ann (probably Ann Nicholls). Actually, Henry was the only AVERA who came to Virginia who actually spelled his name as AVERA on a continual basis.
Many of the given names used in Elizabeth City County, VA by the Averas match the given names used by the Averas who came to the Johnston County NC area in the 1740s.
