Wayne Co NC was formed in Nov 21, 1779 from the western part of Dobbs Co.
James Casey Sr. , son of Jeremiah M Casey and Nancy woJeremiahMCasey, was born before 1784 at North Carolina. Wayne Co is the best guess.5
Jeremiah Casey and James Casey were in the 1806 partial tax list for Richmond Co, North Carolina.8
James Casey was in the 1806 tax list for Richmond Co, North Carolina.8
In 1811 at Richmond Co, North Carolina, James Casey and Lemuel Casey inherited 100 acres from the estate of their father,Jeremiah M Casey.9

James Casey Sr. married female Kirkland, daughter of Caleb V Kirkland and Sarah Elizabeth "Sallie" Ransom, on circa 1812 at Richmond Co, North Carolina.10
On February 25, 1818 at Richmond Co, North Carolina, Lemuel Casey and James Casey sold Thomas Smith 100 acres...
     James Casey was the head of household in the 1830 census for Richmond Co, North Carolina: James Casey: males 1 40-50 (James), males 1 15-20 (Lemuel), 2 10-15 (Miles & Tillman), 2 5-10 (Hampton & James), 1 <5 (?) and females 1 80-90 (1740-1750, mother?),1 40-50 (1780-1790 wife), 1 10-15 (Eliza), 1 5-10 (Sallie), and 1<5 (Nancy) and no slaves.3
In February, 1831 the family of James Casey Sr. moved from Richmond Co NC to Pike Co, Alabama, after the death of his mother. He later remembered that there were five families in the group and one was a Bryant family related to his mother's people. They were on the road three months and it rained twenty-one of those days without stopping..11

James Casey Sr. married Sally Kirkland on circa 1832 at Alabama.11

Barbour Co AL was established on Dec 18 1832 from former Creek Indian lands and a portion of Pike County.

James Casey Sr. was the head of household in the 1833 Alabama state census in Barbour Co: James Casey: 1 male > 21 (James), 3 males < 21 (James, Hampton, Tillman), 1 female > 21 (Sally Kirkland) and 2 females <21 (Sallie & Nancy).12
On August 15, 1837 James granted 40 acres, the SE4 of the NE4 of T9 R24 S23 which is north of Clio across the road from what is now Pea River Presbyterian Church.13
James Casey was the head of household in the June 1, 1840 census for Barbour Co, Alabama: James Cassy: males 2 15-20 (Hampton & James Jr.), 1 50-60 (James Sr.),females 2 10-15 (Nancy and Sarah?), 1 50-60(Sally Kirkland Casey). He owned no slaves and 3 members of the family were engaged in agriculture. Who is the other female 10-15? She would have been born 1825-1830. Sally Kirkland was about the same age as James so she was probably a widow. The other female could have been her daughter.2
On October 13, 1843 at Barbour Co, Alabama, James Casey Sr. gave land to James Casey Jr, Hampton Casey, and Tillman Casey The three plots of land were 33 86/100 acres, 102 acres and 125 acres and were all located in section 5 of T10 R27. This land is located on the road from Clayton to Eufaula at the turn off to White Oak. This land was sold to Anthony Windham on Sep 1, 1846. ... .14,15

James Casey Sr. was the head of household in the 1860 census for Mt Andrew, Barbour Co, Alabama: James Casey farmer 78 NC. His land is worth $300 and personal property worth $290. With him are Nancy 51 SC, and Mary Deshazo 15 AL. This could be the Mary Casey who was living with James Casey in 1850.17
James Casey was the head of household in the 1866 Alabama state census in Township 11 Range 25, Barbour Co: Schedule 3, J Casey: 1 male > 20, and 1 female > 20. It is assumed that this is James Casey Sr. and Nancy DeShazo, although there may be other possibilities.1

Jeremiah M Casey , son of foJeremiahM Casey, was born circa 1754. Unknown location.3,5,2
Dobbs Co NC was formed in 1758 from the eastern part of Johnston Co. In 1779 the western part of Dobbs Co became Wayne Co. Dobbs was dissolved in 1791 and Glasgow and Lenior Co's were formed. Most of the early records of Dobbs Co were destroyed when the Lenoir Co Court House was burned in 1878.
Micajah Casey was in the 1769 tax list for Dobbs Co, North Carolina: tax list. Micajah Casey, 1 white poll which means he was 16 or over. Jeremiah M Casey was not listed. If Jeremiah was there, it would mean that he was less than 16 years old, thus born about 1754 because census records establish birth before 1755.4
Jeremiah M Casey married Nancy woJeremiahMCasey circa 1770. Best guess based on estimated birth years of Jeremiah's children. In Jeremiah's will, he specifically mentions James and Lemuel as being Nancy's sons. That would mean that Zilpha is Nancy's daughter. Jeremiah mentions that all of the children (Samuel, Sarah, Nancy, Betsy, Lovy, Mary, James, Lemuel, and Zilpha) are his children and goes on to say that when Nancy dies, she can leave her estate to her children as she see fit with the exception of James and Lemuel. Does that imply that some of Jeremiah's children may not be Nancy's children or is it just a wording thing?

Jeremiah Casey was on the March 10, 1779 voting list for Dobbs Co, North Carolina: By this time, probably the following children had been born: Samuel, Sarah, Nancy, Elizabeth, Lovey, and Mary.
'In1779 the outlook for the sucess of the American Revolution had grown very dim. This year and the next were the darkest years for the patriots. Kinston(now in Lenoir Co), the home town of Governor Richard Caswell, had become the defacto Captital of the new state. Here the State's Board of War usually met in secret sessions... The vote in the general election required the highest patriotic conviction. If the Revolutionary cause failed, each of these voters would be marked as among the seditionist...' From the Kinston Free Press on the 200th anniversary in 1979. List of voters was compiled by Charles Holloman of Raleigh. Jeremiah Casey was on this list of voters.
Neither Jeremiah M Casey and Micajah Caseyare listed as serving in the Revolution at North Carolina.6
On September 21, 1783 at Wayne Co, North Carolina, John King sold Jeremiah M Casey 120 acres. DB 1 p259.. On the old road adjoining Silas Hollowell and Joshua Davis. The sale included houses, pastures, woods, gardens, and ale house for 10 pounds..7,4
Jeremiah M Casey was the head of household in the 1790 census for Wayne Co, North Carolina: Jeremiah Casey: 1 male > 16 (Jeremiah), 3 males < 16 (?, James, ?); 4 females (Nancy, 3 of the following Mary, Lovey, Elizabeth, Nancy, and Sarah); no slaves. There is at least one unidentified male <16 in this census. If the 2nd unidentified male is Samuel and the census is correct, then Samuel would not have been before 1775.3,4
On July 29, 1796 at Wayne Co, North Carolina, Jeremiah Case sold David Newsom 120 acres. DB 5E p396.. Contained an ale house and gardens for 150 dollars..4
Jeremiah Casey was the head of household in the 1800 census for Fayetteville, Richmond Co, North Carolina: Jeremiah Casey: 1 >45 (born bef 1755), 1<10 (Lemuel), 1 10-15 (James); females 1 21-45 (born 1755-1779 Nancy), 1 <10 (Zilpha).1,4
Jeremiah Casey and James Casey were in the 1806 partial tax list for Richmond Co, North Carolina.8
Jeremiah M Casey was the head of household in the 1810 census for Richmond Co, North Carolina: Jeremiah Casey: males 1 >45 (bef 1765), 1 16-26 (Lemuel ?), females 1 > 45 (Nancy), 1 16-26 (Zilpha); no slaves.2,4
     Jeremiah M Casey signed a will on April 17, 1810 at Richmond Co, North Carolina. . . Will Book 1 p 145.8

Jeremiah died before December 6, 1811 at Richmond Co, North Carolina.9,4

Jesse Clinton Casey , son of Lemuel Casey and Nancy woLemuelCasey, was born on November 15, 1819 at Richmond Co, North Carolina.
Some family trees list his family name as Clinton but I have not seen any documentation of this middle name. In the February 1864 Barbour Co court records documenting the appraisal of his brother's estate, Jesse was listed as living in Cherokee Co TX. His birthdate was listed as Nov 15, 1819.1,2,4,3,5
Jesse Clinton Casey married Sarah Jane Strickland circa 1841 at Alabama, based on birth of Albert. This marriage is not listed in the marriage records of Barbour Co.

In 1844 at Alabama Jesse Casey was joined the Methodist Episcopal Church.
On September 1, 1849 a land patent for 40 acres was issued to Jesse Casey. SE4NE4 of S18, T 12N, R 24E. His residence was listed as Pike Co AL.. The land is located in present day Barbour Co, Alabama.6
In 1851, While living in AL, Jesse in 1851 became a member of the Masonic Lodge in Indian Creek, AL. NOTE: I haven't been able to locate Indian Creek AL. There is an Indian Creek Church in Bullock Co on state highway239, between Union Springs in Bullock Co and Clayton in Barbour Co. This church is about two miles southeast of the land that Jesse purchased from the government in 1849 and 1850. Maybe there was a community there in 1851.
On April 30, 1859 the family of Jesse Casey moved from Alabama by covered wagon driven by one ox and one mule to Jacksonville, Cherokee Co, Texas.4
     Jesse Casey was the head of household in the 1860 census for Beat 8, Cherokee Co, Texas: Jesse Casey 40 $550 - $500 NC, Sarah 40 NC can't r/w, Albert 18 AL,William T 16 AL, Sarah A 14 AL, Izarah 11 AL, Nancy A 6 AL, Lucey E 3AL.2
In brother Terrell's 1864 Barbour Co will, Jesse is listed as living in Cherokee Co TX and his birth is given as Nov 15 1819.7
In 1880 and 1883 at Cherokee Co, Texas, Jesse Casey and Sarah Casey were listed on the rolls on the Jacksonville Methodist Church.
Jesse Clinton Casey died on March 4, 1896 at Jacksonville, Cherokee Co, Texas, at 76 years of age.4,8 He was buried in Jacksonville City Cemetery, Cherokee Co, Texas. His Find A Grave Memorial # is 63449545.4,8
