1855 Louisa and William moved into the Cliatt Plantation Home andraised a total of six children. As the children grew up and weremarried, they were given homes and property nearby. Thelumber was hewn by hand out of native timber by family slaves and thesix room house with large central hall and adjacent kitchen,smokehouse and dairy was five years under construction.
