John lived in Pitt Co, North Carolina, 1760 in 1764. John. In 1750, John Jr willed his land to John III and Godfrey, his twosons. The land are located in what was then Tyrell Co, now Martin,about 4 miles east of Williamston on the Morratock River, Devil's Gut,and Smithwick's (now Sweet Water) creek.

In 1755 John III and Godfrey conveyed all their land to Reuben Eason.This is the last record of the Stancills in the area east ofWilliamston, and it is perfectly clear that they left and went stillfurther inland to the Conetoe Creek where their uncle William hadpreviously moved.

In 1759, Godfrey Stancill received 100 acres by deed from Archdeaconon Conetoe Creek. The deed was witnessed by John Stancill. This wasone year before Pitt was taken from Beaufort County and this deed istherefore recorded in Beaufort County in Book 3, page 427.

In 1760, John III received 2 tracts on Conetoe Creek from John Bensonwhich is recorded in Pitt Co Registry Book A, p 6&8.

In 1767 Archdeacon sold another tract to Godfrey on Conetoe Creek. Wenow see that John III and Godfrey are firmly established in ConetoeCreek in Pitt County.

John died c. 1764 in Pitt Co, North Carolina, 1760.

In 1776 in North Carolina, Sarah Godfrey Smithwick <[m]> [s] and Godfrey Stansell.
