Pitt Co NC was formed in 1760 from Beaufort Co.

Godfrey lived in Pitt Co, North Carolina, 1760 in 1762. Godfrey. Godfrey Stansell grew up in Tyrrell (now Martin) Co NC. Godfrey Stansell's date and place of birth and death are not known. There is evidence his first wife was named Dorcas. It is presumed she was Dorcas Nobles. The date of their marriage is not known, but she apparently died in the early 1770s. Godfrey married 2, Sarah Williams, daughter of Capt William and Mary (Blount) Williams. Sarah Williams was also a sister of Major Willoughby Williams, 10th Regt, NC Continental Line. Godfrey and Sarah Williams were probably married inthe mid-1770s. They settled in Pitt Co NC.

Godfrey Stansell was a resident in the in 1762 tax list for in Pitt Co, North Carolina, 1760. <[m]>.1

 

Godfrey married Dorcas Nobles bef 1770.

 

In 1774 in Martinboro, Pitt Co, North Carolina, 1760, Godfrey Stansell. on the committee to collect aid for the Boston patriots.1

 

Godfrey married Sarah Williams daughter of William Williams and Mary Blount c. 1775.

 

In 1776 in North Carolina, Sarah Godfrey Smithwick [m] John Stansell and [s].

Godfrey died aft 1789.

 

 

Sarah Williams was the daughter of William Williams Capt. ( - ) and Mary Blount ( - ). She and Godfrey Stansell had the following children:
