James Dowling son of Dempsey Dowling and Martha Stokes was born c. 1810 in Alabama. He. 1850 Dale Co AL p216 James enlisted in Company C, 11th FloridaRegiment in November 1863 and went to Virginia. Being given afurlough because of sickness he started home and died at Danville VA,Sep 11th, 1864, and was buried there. Southern Star of Ozark4/27/1910. James Dowling was listed in the household of Dempsey Dowling in the census in 1820 in Darlington Dist, SC.1 James died in 1864 in Danville, Pittsylvania, Virginia. He married Nancy Martin. |
