James Dowling Sr. son of Robert Dowling and Sarah Guinn was born in 1758 in Augusta Co, VA.

 

He married Mary 'Polly' Boutwell daughter of Burtonhead Boutwell and Saoni woBurtonheadBoutwell in 1779 in Orangeburg, Orangeburg Co, SC.

 

 

James Dowling was the Head of Household in the census in 1790 in St Thomas Par, Cheraws Dist, SC. James Dowling: Males 3<16, 1>16, 5 females.

 

In the in 1793 will of Robert Dowling, Sarah Guinn, James Dowling, Elizabeth 'Betsy' Dowling and Mary Ann Dowling were listed as heirs.1

James died c. 1799 in Beaufort, Beaufort Dist, SC.
