Margaret 'Mary' Starling (1700-c. 1770)

 

 

[BOLD:] The Shaftesbury Precinct of Abemarle County NC was renamed as the Chowan Prc of Albemarle in 1685. [:BOLD] It was named for the Chowan Native American tribe which lived in the northeastern part of the Colony.

Margaret 'Mary' Starling1 daughter of William Starling was born in 1700 in North Carolina. Some ancestry trees list her birth as Edgecombe Co. Looking at the county formation timeline, this is obviously not correct. Some ancestry trees list her father as Sir William Starling. Online research has not been able to document this connection and so I have chosen not to show it.2

[BOLD:] Bertie Precinct NC was formed in 1722 from Chowan Precinct [:BOLD].

 

Joseph Howell 46 married Margaret 'Mary' Starling 26 daughter of William Starling in 1726 in Bertie Prec, NC.2

 

Bertie Co NC was renamed from Bertie Prc of Albemarle Co in 1739 when Albemarle Co was dissolved.

Edgecombe Co NC was formed in 1741 from part of Bertie Co. Tarboro, the eventual county seat, was not chartered until 1760.

Margaret died c. 1770 in Cabarrus Co, NC.

She died in 1808 in Cabarrus Co, NC.2 She was buried in Haines Meeting House Cemetery.
