Bertie Precinct NC was formed in 1722 from Chowan Precinct.

 

Mary Howell1,2 daughter of Joseph Howell and Margaret 'Mary' Starling was born in 1726.1 She daughter of Joseph Howell and Margaret 'Mary' Starling was born c. 1727 in North Carolina. She daughter of Joseph Howell and Margaret 'Mary' Starling was born in 1737 in North Carolina.1

 

She married William Maund son of William Maund and Prescilla Sugg c. 1739.

 

Bertie Co NC was renamed from Bertie Prc of Albemarle Co in 1739 when Albemarle Co was dissolved.

Edgecombe Co NC was formed in 1741 from part of Bertie Co. Tarboro, the eventual county seat, was not chartered until 1760.

Mary died in 1759 in Edgecombe Co, NC.1,3 <[d]>, [m].4,5

 

 

William Maund1 (known as William) was the son of William Maund Jr. (c. 1712-1734) and Prescilla Sugg (c. 1709-c. 1777). He and Mary Howell had the following children:
