He was drafted and was sworn into the Army on Sep 1943. He spent hisentire Army career at Fort Taylor in Key West FL. He was dischargedon 6 Apr 1946.

In Jun 1946, Ernest and his brother Glen started Casey Brothers LumberCo which they operated for about 40 years before retiring.
