Georgia and Ananias were well-to-do farmers and owned a great deal of land in addition to the land her father, Judge Philip McCarty gave her when she married. Georgia also bought 480 acres of her father's land when it was sold after his death, in 1889. According to 'Dutch' Watkins, who knew his Aunt Georgia well, she was a shouting Methodist. Also, according to him, she was a good natured, humorous person. She was rather large, being a little on the plump side, and always had a smile for everyone.

On Jul 6, 1916 Charlie Ananias Fletcher Cox grandson of Georgia Ann McCarty petitioned the Probate Court in Dale Co Alabama to be allowed to manage the estate of Georgia Ann McCarty who died without a will. Her estate consisted chiefly of four hundred acres of land estimated to be worth about five thousand dollars. Heirs were as follows: Susan Mae 'Susie' Averett of Enterprise AL; Willie Lorena Averett of Slocomb AL age 48; Edwin Phillip McCarty age 29, Georgia Clyde McCarty age 25, Ludie Estelle McCarty age 20, Jeter McCarty age 18, Lena McCarty age 15 all of Capps Texas; George Ananias Averett age 22, Henry Grady Averett age 22, Allie Mae Averett age 20, Willie Belle Averett age 17, Lewie Ray Averett age 13, Bryant Shelly Averett age 20, Eben Lewis Averett age 10, Fred Austin Averett age 10 all of Ozark AL.
