In 1726, at the encouragement of her brother, Edmund Smithwick, theymoved across Roanoke River and settled on Smithwick Creek in Tyrrell(later Martin) County. John Stansell died in 1750 but Sarah(Smithwick) Stansell was still living in 1776. The death of her deathis unknown.
