There is no known written documentation that suggests that John Averett had daughters. However based on limited information and a significant number of triangulated DNA matches between descendants of Mary, the wife of Robert Stripling, and descendants of John Averett's other children, it is considered likely that Mary was a daughter of John Averett and an unknown wife.

Purchasers included Archibald Averett, Henry Averett, Matthew Averett, David Averett, Jeremiah Averett, Burrell Rachels, Benjamin Averett and Mary Averett Administrators: Matthew Averett and David Averett.

Her husband, Robert Stripling, died in 1812 in Jones Co, GA.²
