Elizabeth Smithwick daughter of Edward Smithwick and Africa McGregory was born c. 1682. She. Elizabeth Smithwick was the daughter of Edward Smithwick andprobablyhis first wife, Elizabeth. Elizabeth was probably bornbetween 1680 and 1685. She married Martin Griffin ca 1700. The dateof her death is not known.She was living as last as 1723, however itis believed it was her daughter to whom reference was made in 1752. Nothing is known of the early years of Martin and ElizabethSmithwick Griffin. No record of Martin Griffin has been found priorto 1714. He appears on none of the tax lists or corn lists prior tothat date. It is apparent, though, that he was very active during theTuscarora Indian War. He presented a claim in 1714 for two pounds tenshillings. Another undated claim is for six poiunds, six shillings,six pence, and about the time of his death there is a third claim fortwenty four pounds, fiften shillings.

Elizabeth died aft 1723.
