Billy Ray 'B. R.' Hughes. Billy Ray was a lifetime resident of Houston Co AL. He was an Armyveteran of the Korean Conflict. He was working with the Dothan PoliceDepartment as a patrol officer in 1959. He left the Department in1971 to become the Director of the Southeast Alabama Police Academy inEnterprise. Billy Ray served with the Houston-Henry CountyDistrict Attorney's Office from 1973 to 1983. In 1983, he beganworking with the State of Alabama with the Revenue EnforcementDivision, retiring in July 1995 as a Lieutenant. He was acharter member of the Dothan F.O.P. Lodge No. 27, a member and Deconof Bethel Baptist Church. (Info from obituary published in the DothanEagle (3/23/1997.) He, son of Wesley Clayton Hughes and Maudie Jones, was born on 8 May 1931 in Houston Co, AlabamaG. Billy Ray 'B. R.' Hughes was buried in Memory Hill Cemetery-Dothan, Houston Co, AlabamaG.
