Phillip McLendon. Phillip McClendon was a son of Dennis McClendon and Celia Burroughsand a brother to Sarah Louise McClendon who m. On the 3rd instant, Mr. PhillipMcClendon was killed by his brother-in-law, Mr. Gentry, at the Zeiglerold place, where deceased lived, in Jackson parish, near the IndianVillage. The report we get is to the effect that there had been badfeelings between the parties for some time. On the day mentioned,deceased and his brother, and Gentry and his brother, met atdeceased's house. Angry words passed, but the matter was amicablysettled. Gentry and hisbrother, some time after, returned, one with ashot-gun. The trouble was renewed, when one of the Gentrys startedinto McClendon's house and persisted in entering, although McClendonwarned him not to enter. Gentry was shot by McClendon with squirrelshot in the shoulder. The other Gentry then shot McClendon withbuck-shot, the shot killing him almost instantly. The two Gentrys left nd have not been arrested. All the parties concerned in this sadaffair were young white men.

Timothy Mark 'Tim' Cain. Timothy Mark 'Tim' Cain, of Dothan, died Saturday, Nov 6 2004 atSEAMC. He was 43. Tim was born July 26, 1961 in Houston County andlived most of his life in Dothan. He along with his father, owned andoperated Cain's Ironand Metal for the past 23 years. Tim was in thefirst graduating class of Northview High School in 1980 where heplayed football for the Northview Cougars. Tim later received anassociate degree in Business Administration from Wallace CommunityCollege. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Dothan,the Alabama Head Injury Foundation, and the Southeast AlabamaCoalition of People with Disabilities. Tim also served as an advisoryboard member with the Impaired Drivers Trust Fund. He was a localadvocate for people with disabilities. Survivors include hisfather, Bennie E. Cain, Dothan, a sister and brother-in-law, Paula andTommy Mims, Abbeville; two nieces, Casey Leigh Mims, Atlanta andAshley Elizabeth Mims, Abbeville. Tim was preceded in death by hismother Bobbie Casey Cain, who died in 1997. Serviing as activepallbearers will be Joeseph Whatley III, Larry Taylor, Bart Casey,Scott Casey, Shane Williams, Wes Williams, Rusty Cain and Jay Moss.Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Ronnie Welch and ErnieMaynard.
