Henry de Bohun, 1st Earl of Hereford, had reference number 97-27. He, son of Humphrey de Bohun, IV, Lord of Hereford, and Margaret of Huntingdon, was born in 1176.2,1
In 1200. he was sent with other nobles to summon his uncle, William the Lion, King of Scotland to do homage to King John at Lincoln.1
Henry was created the 1st Earl of. Hereford on 28 April 1200. This was the creation of the Earl of Hereford.1
Henry de Bohun, 1st Earl of Hereford, age ~29 married Maud Fitz Geoffrey de Manderville, de Manderville, daughter of Geoffrey FITZ Piers and Beatrix Saye, about 1205.2
In 1215. he joined the confederacy of the barons against King John. He was one of the 25 barons who signed the Magna Carter and was one of the barons selected to ensure that King John observed the Magna Carta which was signed by King John on June 15 1215.1
On 16 December 1215. as a consequence he was among the barons excommunicated by Pope Innocent III and his lands were seized by the crown.1
. After the death of King John, he adhered to the party of Louis of France and fought at the battle of Lincoln, where he was taken prisoner on 5-20-1217.1
