Unknown Simmons, was born before 1785.
Most family trees on ancestry.com lists the parents of [p1] and [p2] as Luke Russell Sr and Priscilla Soles. There is no known documentation that supports this. A recently discovered (Dec 2015) transcription of the family bible of Luke R Simmons and Priscilla Soles in the Troy, Pike Co AL library practically rules out this possibility. Because Luke Jr and John Jr moved together and married sisters, it can be assumed (but not proven) that they were probably brothers. They have been assigned as sons of Unknown Simmons for tracking purposes.1
