Samuel Royal Gibson, son of
Phineas Gibson and
Elizabeth Unknown, was born on 18 August 1775 in Sumter Co, South Carolina
G. Samuel Royal Gibson. Samuel Royal Gibson was born in 1773 in Sumter District SC. It is thought that he was the only child of Phineas Gibson who came to settle in Pike Co AL. He left SC with his wife and children about1829 and went to Decatur Co GA where he stayed about one year. In1830 he moved to a site near Quincy in Gadsden Co FL and stayed there about one year. In 1831 the family came to Pike Co AL and setled five miles south of the present location of Troy. He owned about 850 acres of land in Pike Co AL. His will is on file in the Pike CoProbate Office. He died in 1861 and is buried at the White RockBaptist Church cemetery, near the Spring Hill community. (89.)

He. James Milton Gibson was born 4 Feb 1815 in SC and moved with hisfather to GA, FL and finally to Pike Co AL. In 1840 he married MissM. J. Simmons who bore him one daughter. In 1841 the wife died and in1844 he married as his second wife, Elizabeth Eddins who becaue themother of nine children. Elizabeth died in 1884 and James Miltonmarried as his third wife, Sue Herring. James Milton Gibson was afarmer and merchant in the Spring Hill area,living within a mile and ahalf radius of his first settlement in the county for the remainder ofhis life.
