On 9 September 1777 in Martin Co, NCG. Thomas Best swore to the court that Isaac Barbree, David Tailer, Hardy Counsell, and James Rogers left the Company to spy on Nathan Mayo a suspected Tory. James Hais said "if they were to Bid Isaac Barbree to shoot James Mayo he would do it."4
Isaac Barbree began military service on 20 June 1778 in North CarolinaG. as a private in Ballard's NC Line, Col Abraham Sheppard's10th Reg. Served 9 months. He was paid 28 pounds, 9 shillings, and 5 pence.2
