The Russell Co AL Hertitage Book lists him as William Washington Quarles and has extensive info on the Day family and the Quarles family. Thus I have chosen to use William Washington Quarles as the name of her first husband.1

Matthew Averett ~68 married Sarah Ann Day 46, daughter of John Day and Elizabeth WoJohnDay, on 4 November 1852 in Russell Co, ALG. The ceremony was peformed by W. Brown, Justice of the Peace on Nov 4, 1852. Matthew made improvements to Sarah's home where they continued to reside for five years until Matthew died in 1857.1
Her husband, Matthew Averett, died on 27 July 1857 in Barbour Co, ALG+, at ~73 years of age.3
Zacharia H Gordon married Sarah Ann Day ~56, daughter of John Day and Elizabeth WoJohnDay, in 1862. Sarah's third husband was Zacharia H Gordon, a Confederate veteran from Columbus GA.
Sarah and Zacharia lived in the house built by her first husband.
Sarah died in 1887 and Zacharia returned to Columbus where he lived until his death.1

His family is James 40-50, males 1 15-20 (Lemuel), 2 10-15(Miles & Tillman), 2 5-10 (Hampton & James), 1 <5 (Tillotson or Henry?) and females 1 80-90 (1740-1750, mother or mother in law), 1 40-50(1780-1790 wife), 1 10-15 (Eliza), 1 5-10 (Sallie), and 1 <5(Nancy)and no slaves. If all of these males belong to James, there is oneadditional male (total of 6)that we Casey researchers have notaccounted for. Are Tillman and Tillotson two different people?
On Apr 11, 1839 in Barbour Co AL, Tillman married Nancy Ann Kirklandwho was born in 1820 in SC. His father married Sally Kirkland shortlyafter arriving in Alabama.
