William was living in the Little Rock Dist of Marion Co in 1870 andthe Harleesville Townshio of Marion Co in 1880.
He was Chaplain of the Little Rock SC Alliance at one time. This wasprobably a farmer's alliance.
His grandson, Alex Wilkinson, remembers his mother telling about hisgrandfather traveling from SC to Fayettesville to get supplies once amonth. He said they would band together and take a cart. They wouldsleep overnight on the ground and would reach their destination thenext day. He said one time they left when it was warm. They went tosleep that night and woke up the next morning covered with a blanketof snow. He remembers stories from family members about his having abeautiful voice.
He died on Jun 25, 1888 and is buried at the St. Paul's Methodist ChCem in Little Rock SC. In 1786 Francis Asbury, the pioneer Methodistcircuit rider organized a preaching station that later became known asLiberty Chapel, and then as St. Paul's Methodist of Little Rock. Thechurch is preserved as an historic landmark but is not being used nowas a church.
