In the 1880 census for Coryell Co TX, his birth state is listed as AL and Bartley is listed as his father. In his death certificate, it is stated that his father was unknown and his mother's maiden was Brackin. Bartley's wife in 1880 was listed as Martha. Based on several family trees on ancestry.com, there is disagreement as to the identity of this Martha Brackin. Some say that she is the daughter of Mathias Brackin and Frances Dowling but I haven't been able to document that other than in family trees. Marriage records for Dale Co prior to 1870 no longer exist.^1,2,3
[Sg] was listed in the household of Bartley W. Ketchum in the in 1880 census in Coryell Co, TexasG. Bartlett W Ketchum 56 AL NJ SC farmer, Martha wife 33 AL AL AL, Benjamin F 9AL AL AL. In the 1900 census for Jackson Co FL, it says that Bartley was married in 1871 to a Nancy. Confusing to say the least.¹
