RESEARCH NOTE: Whenthe researcher for 'A Dowling Family of the South' contacted a WilcoxChambliss, he stated that his grandfather, W. E. Chambliss was born in1836 in SC. Sarah's husband is shown on the 1850 census as havingbeen born in 1826 in FL. Could this be a case involving an erroneousdigit and a careless record of birthplace? A niece and nephew ofSarah Cox Chambliss remember a Texas visit by two other sons of hersfrom Oklahoma named Isaiah and Tom, the latter was a cripple.
