Biography
Milton Taylor Culver, son of Jeptha Grace Culver and Louisa L. Latimer, was born on 28 May 1847 in Culverton, Hancock Co, GeorgiaG.1,2,345 Milton Taylor Culver. Milton enlisted in the CSA on Feb 1862 as a substitute for his father Jeptha Grace Culver. His father entered the war later and was killed in 1865 when Milton was 18. Milton served for the first seven month's of his enlistment in Stephen's Legion, Cavalry Division, being transferred to the 5th Gerogia under General's Young and Joe Johnson. He fought in the battle of Atlanta, Chickamauga, Missionary Ridge, Resca, and other battles in GA, TN, and SC. For a period of ten months he served as Courier for Generals Young and Johnson. He was wounded at East Macon in the capture of General Stoneman, Union Army, and again at Double Bridges, near Columbus, GA, when all but a few members of the Confederate Regiment were captured. Milton was one of the few in number to outwit the Unionists. He served actively until the close of the war, being mustered out of service at Augusta, GA, a few days after Lee's surrender. After the close of the war, Milton returned to Culverton, Hancock Co GA.22
