. Some family trees list his family name as Clinton but I have not seen any documentation of this middle name. In the February 1864 Barbour Co court records documenting the appraisal of his brother's estate, Jesse was listed as living in Cherokee Co TX. His birth date was listed as Nov 15, 1819.^1,2,4,3,5⁶⁷⁸

In 1851. While living in AL, Jesse in 1851 became a member of the Masonic Lodge in Indian Creek, AL. NOTE: I haven't been able to locate Indian Creek AL. There is an Indian Creek Church in Bullock Co on state highway239, between Union Springs in Bullock Co and Clayton in Barbour Co. This church is about two miles southeast of the land that Jesse purchased from the government in 1849 and 1850. Maybe there was a community there in 1851.
