The Grand Jury also commended the merchants for not suffering negroes to come into town for trafficing and buying ardent spirits and recommended the county merchants to pursue the same course. Winfield Hightower laid in a claim for the above stated property. The claim to the wagon was sustained while the cattle and horse were found subject to the levy. 6,9 In 1840, Abraham Kingry does not appear with the family in the Wilkinson Co census where Priscilla was listed as head of household. Abraham appears to be living in Laurens Co at the time. Other records state that he had a peddler's wagon. Maybe he was a traveling salesman or maybe he and Priscilla had separated.
