Joel Willie 'J. W.' Miller was also known as J W Miller.1 He. J. W. begain farming on rented land. About 1941 he purchased 65 acreswith a house on it. In 1943 he had twelve mules and five employeesJ. W. has been successful growing cotton, corn, and peanuts, and alsoraising cattle and hogs. All the while he was renting some land andpurchasing some. In the late 1940s he begain converting to mechanizedfarming, and he continued moving in that direction. He used Ford,John Deere, and Ferguson tractors and quipment. He says his 1966 JohnDeere 4020 is the best tractor made and it is still going strong.Now, at age 80, he rents out a lot of his row crop land and pasture,but he continues growing peanuts and raising cattle.
